Donald Trump was more popular in McDowell County than anywhere else in America during the Republican primaries. Paul Lewis explores the power of the Republican presidential nominee’s message in the poorest county of West Virginia.

@9:45 man that old dude is experienced. Such true words for all politicians in all the countries
Joe Manchin is the worst Senator in America today these people voted for him and he does nothing to make their lives better. Imagine he lives in a house yacht and drives a Maserati these people are so poor they collect cans and buy items for their house on the side of the road. It was telling when he said most of the miners can't read or write hopefully the next generation will educate themselves. Trump said "I love the uneducated" and he meant that too.
The uneducated, the most hate-filled rural in America, the poorest of all with the least hope to see a white-only-America believed in Trump world. He talked like a 5th grader (many of the Southerners can relate to that), could not properly complete a sentence and mentally unstable. The question is how could he fool SO MANY all across America???!!
I come back every so often just to wonder what they would say now ! July 25, 2022
How is it now
I'd love to see a follow up on all these pro-Trump rural thinkpieces we were subjected to. Did Trump actually help anyone anywhere?
If everything goes GREEN NEW DEAL then I guess all the energy sectors jobs will leave and we will see towns become ghost towns.🤔😳 It's Just POLITICS baby POLITICS!!!!
Grandfather is smart and whise. What could not be said for a granddaughter. Who whil she educate ?
You should all get together and send Trump all the money you can get your hands on because Trump needs it.
Yeah like the dems care about you lol
Trump is a nationalist who wants to bring back the 1950's USA where it produced most of the world's products. Problem is Trump lets his mouth undercut his efforts and filled his cabinet with people working Against his Goals. This is why they are working so hard to try to prevent his return.
But joe Manchin got rich thought lol
Eff Google and Amazon. Just like Wal mart, WV be smart!
These lying mfering politicians
Current pop "reported" at 19k
Ain't been there, idk.
But from WV
I don’t feel a shred of empathy for these people
9:38 – Most sensible thing said in the whole video
Donald Trump lied to you plain and simple but putting all that aside the democrats tried to get you guys things free prescription drugs child care credit plus we tried to get insulun capped at 35.00 bucks a month but your senator Joe Manchin voted no he insulted a lot of people in west virginia and Joe Manchin went live and said his people would only spend that money on drugs and hunting rifles
I'm glad I live in Texas and not in the poorest state in the country.
The words that come out of her mouth don't add up to why she voted for Trump. The coal mines hasve been closed the same way that there are no more wagon trains crossing America 🤡🤡
How can one help people from McDowell County?
deep america
We need Trump back more than ever
Until Dems illegally change voting rules because of COVID, via the Fauchi/China virus. Here come the lockdowns as midterms get nearer…..
Inequality in America is absolutely shocking. Unfortunately Biden & Trump did nothing for these people.
The hard workers and coal miners have either moved away, died or retired at this point. 95% of the people left in "the county" have never worked a day in their life and all live off a "checks" as there've referred to. Coal camps were supposed to be temporary housing until the mine worked out but it's turned into this comgomeration of generational welfare that have been waiting on their next handout for over 60 years now. Fun fact, the very first food stamps were issued in McDowell County and nothing has improved. Just today it was flooded again because of ruthless land and coal companies logging the forest that used to hold the water on the mountains rather than flooding the hollers. It's time to pull the plug on the entire county and let nature have it back.
This is a fantastic piece. Is there a follow up? I'd love to learn how the people of this county are doing after 4 years of Trump.
Hang in there Papa
A lot of people left Appalachia years ago to get a job.
You support the T-Rump, what do you expect?
When was America great?
He ought to see this and go help these poor people they really like him for some reason and the man did nothin for em
Trump increased fracking in these areas, increasing earthquakes by about 400%. So, don't say Trump didn't help these people. They got real rolling hills.
